→ Note from the mods

This list is long, we won't deny that. We've been modding for quite some time and unfortunately, even the most obvious things need to be stated for some players. Most of these are the result of questions we've been asked. Read what you need to know to apply and if you have questions, read through them. If you're question isn't answered, feel free to leave us a comment in the drop box.

OOC drama and bullying is not accepted in any form. We do not encourage IC bullying, either, but we understand not every character is going to get along. If you feel someone is taking things OOC that are meant to be IC, please do not hesitate to bring it to us. The drop box is screened and we also accept PMs, as well as e-mails (hellsreapers@outlook.com).

Bullying in any form will not be tolerated. If a player isn't interested in a plot, line, scene or anything else, as the saying goes, no means no. Do not try to force a player in to something that they're not interested in or something that makes them uncomfortable. If you feel like someone is trying to force you in to something or pushing you towards something, please (if you're able) provide us with screen captures of the conversation. The player in question will receive ONE warning. If it happens again, that player and all of their characters will be removed completely.

Please make your character's journal before you apply and apply with it. Journals must be in character. First and/or last name included.

You do not need to hold a PB, but it is encouraged. We don't allow challenges or anonymous holds. First come, first served.

To apply, you have to have either a detailed history of your character or fifteen detailed facts that is in a public entry (unless it's on a host site), a clean (no comments) IC contact post and a public OOC contact post. Include basic info for the character in the history (i.e. birth date, birth place, residence, etc. etc)

Applications must have proper capitalization. This means we will not even read a character's history if it is in all uppercase or lowercase and the application will be deleted. The player can reapply when it's fixed. Some layout codes have a "uppercase" or "lowercase" code. It's easy to find it and just remove it.

We do require examples. Two threads are preferred. You can link us to a character development journal (CDJ) or e-mail at hellsreapers@outlook.com. You can even put them in a post in your character's journal. There's no need to drop box because we don't reply to any comments made on the application page.

When applying an officer or enforcer, we do look for more details in their histories/biographies. Their lives as a Reaper, how they came to hold the position.

If you are accepted, you will a receive a comment on your OOC post.

If you fail to add the mod journal and request membership to the communities, your application will be denied or it will remain pending for a week.

If rejected, you're free to leave a comment on the drop box to inquire why.

Consider removals based on the three strike rule. You get two chances and on the third, you're out. The only exception to this is with OOC bullying.

If your character is removed at any time or you decide to drop a character, you are more than welcome to re-apply.

If applying another character, this goes without saying, you have to list your current characters.

If your character posts a narrative or entry one month, the next month it is encouraged that they are involved in a thread. If a player is constantly posting narratives and entries without having interaction with other players outside of the IC community or IC posts, then they'll be removed for not being apart of the game.

Characters may be removed if storylines aren't discussed with all direct players involved.

We recommend discussing story lines, back stories and anything else with any member who is or will potentially be connected with your character. If you are bringing in someone linked to the club (patch, prospect, old lady, family, retired patch) you must make a line post in meetthereaper or your application will remain pending or will be rejected. This is to ensure histories and any club information remain connected.

If your character is inactive, not responding to comments, never on the friends page, not involved in game and/or only keeping activity to the characters they have main lines with, you'll be warned and asked to bring up your activity. You'll be given a dead line and if you fail to show your interest in the game, you'll be removed. In game activity is important. If your character is removed for inactivity, you will not be able to reapply that character right away. You will have to wait a month. If you have other characters in game, you'll need to keep them active in order to bring in a character that was removed or to bring in a new character.

If you have to be spoken to about line crossing, using your own characters to benefit another of your characters, you will be removed after two strikes.

If you removed your character without drop boxing or letting the mods know, you won't be accepted in game again.

Adds are mostly done on the weekends, but sometimes they are done during the week. There are two mods and we both alternate responsibilities. We do tend to do removals quicker.

Adds, removals and deadlines are based on Eastern Standard time.

Play-bys. We don't really have many rules on this. Try to use a face that is somewhat known.

If we're unable to do a simple Google search to find out the age of the character, we will ask you to change the face. If you're able to find a legitimate site with the birthday, please link us.

We ask that you remember the five year rule. The character can not be more than five years older or younger than the PB.

No PB under the age of seventeen is allowed and all characters must be over seventeen. We will not allow Suicide Girls or anyone deceased.

If you wish to change your PB at any time, leave a comment on the request post and we'll change it. Wait to make the icon swap until after you hear back from us, just in case there's any problems with the new PB.

We do not have a character limit. You must be active with all of your characters in order to bring in more. We ask you to be active with all of the characters you do bring in. To bring in more, you need to send in an application. You must list all of your current characters in the example section of the application.

In order for a new character to be accepted when you're already in game, we ask that you have met the activity requirements for more than half of your current characters if it is after the 12th of that month, but we would prefer it if you met requirements for all of them. If we feel you're not active enough with your current characters, we will deny the application. Having a character in game already does not guarantee that an application for a new character will be accepted. The character will still be judged based on the biography.

New players are only allowed one character in game until they're in game for 45 days. This is just to make sure the player can be active and keep up with plots and IC interaction.

If you have more than five characters at any given time, do not keep all of your characters the same sex. Some sort of balance is nice.

Stay completely neutral when it comes to your characters. At any time, if we feel a player is unable to keep a solid balance, we will discuss it with him or her before deciding to remove their character(s). Try not to overlap lines too much. Branching out and setting up new lines with other players is never a bad thing!

You can not have your own characters living together. Don't use your own characters to benefit another one of your characters.

We will not allow a player to play siblings. Extended family is possible if we feel the player can keep it separate. If you do play extended family, do not put them in to the same thread. Any characters you play should not be in the same thread together. Group threads are the only exception.

If your character has failed to meet requirements, he/she will be removed from the game at the end of that month. You'll be able to reapply once you have an entry posted. If this is a constant habit or your character is rarely active, we will not accept the application.

If your character posts a narrative or entry one month, the next month it is encouraged that they are involved in a thread. If a player is constantly posting narratives and entries without having interaction with other players outside of the IC community or IC posts, then they'll be removed for not being apart of the game.

Entries and threads/tags must have proper capitalization. Nothing should be in all uppercase or lowercase.

We expect one of the following monthly:

  • Entries should be a few detailed paragraphs. We're not always looking for length, but as long as there's a good deal of information, it'll count towards that round of activity. They can be private, blocked to certain people or public to all characters. Entries should be posted in your character journals. If the entry is long, please put it behind a cut. An entry posted in the IC community will NOT count for activity.
  • Threads must have five replies for each character involved. If you have started a thread but it was abandoned by another player, that will count for activity for your character. Threads and logs can be posted in a character's journal or in pitsofhell. Please try not to abuse the custom option. Other players are interested in the comings and goings of other characters. Threads that are posted in journals need to be linked in the thread community in order for it to count for that month's activity.
Thread replies have to be at least four well formed sentences in a paragraph. Replies that lack proper punctuation and capital letters won't be counted towards the five replies needed for each player to pass activity. Additionally, please don't recite what was said in the previous reply.
  • Narratives can be posted in your character's journal or in itsofhell.

Along with monthly activity checks, we will check to see if everyone has run the friend all button and if not, we will send out reminders. We do this randomly and will give the player a week to run the button, anyone who has failed to run it, will be removed. This is only to ensure that everyone is able to be involved.

We will occasionally look at the last time journals have been updated. If it has been two weeks or more, we will nudge the journal and the player will have a week to update it. Updating with a picture, lyrics, a custom, whatever would be perfectly fine as long as it's in your character's journal!

Being active on the friends page is a MUST. IC comments to IC posts in the IC community, commenting on character's IC posts. Replying back to comments your character has recieved. Making an IC post and then just ignoring comments doesn't count towards being active IC.

Anything done on AIM or any client does not count towards activity.

Real life happens. Please inform the mods as soon as you can via the drop box. A post in the OOC community can be overlooked. You must leave a comment in the drop box. Give us a reason why, unless it's too personal. We're pretty understanding when it comes to RL issues. We'll mark your character as on hiatus and it would help, greatly, if you have a story line prepared. Vacation, business trip, whatever. It'll make things easier for the other characters. If you don't have a story line set up, you're leaving it open for the mods to decide. After two weeks, please let us know if you need longer. If not, your character will be removed.

If you ask for an extension four days before the end of that month's activity check, you will be given to the 7th of the following month to enter activity for the previous month. If don't meet that deadline, you'll be removed.

Plot draws will be monthly, but there may be months we skip. Sometimes we might have more than one in a month depending on what is going on in game.

  • Past and current plot draws will be listed with the current plots .
  • If your character is picked for a plot draw, they will not be eligible for the next two.
  • When it is time for a plot draw, we will make a mod post giving the plot details and you'll be able to comment with your character if you wish for them to have a chance to be involved in the draw.
  • Plot draws are not mandatory, but it does show us you want to be involved within the game.
  • Some plot draws will require more than one character. Only one of your characters will be involved, but you can put some or all of your characters in to the draw.

Serious story lines that may be offensive or off-putting to others, [like kidnapping, rape, drugs, abuse, attempted suicide, etc] are perfectly fine with mod approval. Please PM or drop box the mods before you start writing anything out. Also, make sure to label all threads with a warning.

In order for other characters to have more plots opened for them, do not plot-hog. If something happens to your character, but it didn't have the effect you wanted, you have to wait until you start planning something else. If you want the plot to be effective, think it out. If it involves NPCs, write a detailed narrative. Don't just throw a post up in your character's journal saying what happened. The mods want details just as much as other players do.

If your character really isn't active and doesn't interact with threads and group threads, don't ask for a plot. Plots are given to players who are involved and have thoroughly thought everything out.

We have a post for current and future plots. To have yours listed and approved, go to the request post.

If you feel you want to, you CAN kill off your own characters, but not anyone else's unless you've gotten permission from them. Also, make sure to message the mods regarding it BEFORE the fact, just so we know.

We don't want EVERY female being pregnant. We do not have a limit for pregnancies, but we will be keeping an eye on due dates. You will need to send in a pregnancy request at the request post.

  • We do not promise to okay a pregnancy line. The main reason for a rejection will be the due date and we'll probably just ask that you wait.
  • If you are planning on bringing in a character that is currently pregnant, please ask us before you apply!
  • Any complications need to be submitted to the mod by stwelve weeks. After that, no changes can be made. The baby's sex also needs to be decided on by twelve weeks.

If your character is new to the game, but not new to the city or to the club, assume your character knows everyone else.

Affiliations

  • None No connection to the club
  • Friend of the club Someone who is on good terms with the club, comes to public parties and functions
  • Family son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother would be considered family. If they're family from a different charter other than Mildand, please put the state that charter is in. If it's Mexico or Ireland, put that

Homosexual Patches While both mods are 100% for the LGBT community, to keep things realistic, we will not allow gay patches. We have made an exception in the past, but will no longer accept a patch that isn't heterosexual. All patches must be straight. If you wish to bring in a gay character, you're more than welcome to, as along as they're not apart of the club. They can be associated with the club.

NPCs: We have a NPC directory that is available for all players to add to. There is a request form at the request post. Please use that form when putting in a request. A NPC is controlled by one or more players. If you'd like to use a NPC, just message the player(s) who has control over him/her and work something out. There is also a list of deceased characters included in this directory. A request form is located in the request post.

Old Ladies: A character can only come in as an old lady if her patch is already in game. Having an active patch is important to the roll of an old lady, given that this game centers around the Hell's Reapers. Her involvement within the club, what she knows, those are things that are at the discretion of the patch and the patch's player, not the old lady.

Previous Officers We have a directory for previous officers. There is a request form at the request post. Please use that form when putting in a request. If there's an officer that is mentioned in a history, a family member of a patch, whatever, tell us. Any facts regarding their time spent as an officer are needed. Year joined, if they are alive, retired, deceased, exiled.

Cut Patches You can find a visual links for different Reaper patches on the Club Rules page.

Locations can be added at any time. You're welcomed to have your character work at any listed or even add more yourself. To put one in, go to the request post.

Nomads

Nomads only have a President and a Vice President.

Nomads typically don't stay in one place for longer than a month, while helping the Midland Reapers, it's an exception.

Nomads know almost every Reaper from Texas to New England to Ireland. The also know the majority of Reaper families.

Nomads can live at the Clubhouse or rent a home from a Midland Reaper. In the future, the Nighthorse Property may become available for Reapers to stay.

We have a few different communities connected to our game. They are as follows:

  • Living in Midland is our IN CHARACTER community. Here, you will post anything that is IC. Lyrics, videos, pictures, anything.
  • The Grave is our OUT OF CHARACTER community. This may be used to notify other members about hiatuses or even introducing yourself once accepted. You can also post any plot ideas who you have here. Please do not post in here if you're removing your character. Drop box the mod journal.
  • Pits of Hell is our THREADING AND LOG community. Here, you will post scenes between characters. You don't need to post every scene you do, but feel free! This will keep members up to date on what is going on behind the scenes. Please use the usual log format (who, what, when, where) and if it's a mature scene (sex, violence, harsh language), please label it as such.
  • Meet The Reaper is our STORY LINE community. Anyone can join this community and here, you're able to post wanted lines and connect with other members and future members looking for lines.
